Universal Wastes are particular hazardous waste streams that a company can choose to manage through; Lamp Recycling, CFL Disposal, Fluorescent Light Disposal, Battery Disposal, and Most Electronic Wastes. Universal Wastes are generated by nearly all businesses, large to small, and often are not properly managed. Under R299.9228 of Part 111 rules and 40 CFR Universal Wastes are classified as:

| •Mercury Containing Devices: Includes thermostats, switches, thermometers, manometers, barometers, and various other medical devices | |
